Centrally monitored, Reduced False Alarm fire alarm systems with reduced cabling architecture

A typical 20 floor Residential Building would require close to 60 runs of Low Voltage cable running in the shaft to implement Fire Alarm and Public Address systems.

Since the basic style of cabling in addressable fire alarm system is unstructured, even with these 60 runs of cable these systems are not able to precisely indicate the flat wise location of CABLING FAULT ( short / open circuits) resulting in difficulty during erection and maintenance of the systems.

Even locating the fire alarm at flat level can be done only after major programming effort during the installation and commissioning phase.

Furthermore these systems are proprietary due to which the owner of the building is tied down to only use components of the particular manufacturer as the devices like smoke detectors and modules from other manufacturers would not be compatible with other systems. The Public Address System functions independently without intelligent interface with the Fire Alarm System and hence establishing communication with the affected area becomes very cumbersome.

This excessive cabling leads to major difficulties during maintenance and many times the systems are left non-functional exposing the occupants to major fire risks.

Fire ready pump house

Our nation in the past 2 decades has experienced vertical urbanization leading to ever increasing density of population in the major cities. This growth however has been unplanned putting heavy unplanned strain on basic amenities like roads power water safety emergency services etc.

As cities continue their vertical expansion spree the area of emergency services especially of fire needs SELF RELIANCE as it has become near to impossible to get the fire brigades in time to the site in the current traffic levels in urban areas.

With occupancy levels of every 20 floor building reaching more that 1000 per building and average occupancy of malls reaching 3000 at any time every government fire department is looking at newer ways to improve the self-reliance of buildings which have assumed the dimensions of a small town with built in Hospitals Hotels And Schools.

The only captive fire protection measure prescribed by the authority is a hydrant sprinkler system with an underground storage water tank having a sufficient storage capacity. A set of pumps with back up pumps which form the heart of this system are pressed into operation as soon the hydrant valve is opened.

However, though this system is sufficient to tackle any type of fire that can occur in a typical residential / commercial set up the maintenance of the pump and the continuous availability of water becomes an essential prerequisite.

Often, the pumps which are only supposed to work in the event of a fire accident are not maintained in the normal course and being mechanical equipment prone to rust and corrosion, do not work at the time of an emergency and leave the entire set up vulnerable to devastation. A small fire incident becomes a major disaster by the time the fire brigades come in.

Our pump monitoring system does automatic maintenance runs of the pump house at periodic, pre-programmed intervals. This ensures that all equipment are made to operate as if there is a fire situation. Hence the equipment gets tested automatically without need for any human intervention. Reports of this testing are recorded and stored. Failures are reported immediately by e-mail and SMS for necessary action.
